Increased spider veins, visible varicose veins, or heavy legs in the evening can be early signs of an underlying venous disease. While often only aesthetically bothersome at first, it may develop over time into a serious vein condition with an increased risk of thrombosis and impaired wound healing. To prevent this, early examination is recommended to enable timely intervention and to stop further progression.
Our phlebologists in Hamburg provide comprehensive care for all aspects of venous health.
Spider veins are a subtype of varicose veins (varicosis) and appear in a web-like pattern in the upper layers of the skin. Due to venous congestion, hereditary predisposition, and additional risk factors such as prolonged standing or sitting, pregnancy, overweight, or hormonal medications, the connective tissue can weaken. As the venous system largely consists of connective tissue, the vessels dilate. When these small surface vessels are affected, they are referred to as spider veins.
Before treating spider veins, it is essential to rule out deeper venous disease (CVI, chronic venous insufficiency). Spider veins can be effectively treated. Visit our practice — we will remove your spider veins in Hamburg Eppendorf.
