Exosome Therapy – Natural Regeneration Process for Your Skin in Hamburg Eppendorf

In all technological fields, we can observe new innovations year after year, and the world of dermatology is no exception. There is a constant search for new ways to maintain our skin health and give it a refreshed appearance that matches our youthful consciousness. At Dr. Anna Brandenburg’s practice, we are now using Exosome Therapy with MCT (Meta Cell Technology) in both medical and aesthetic dermatology: a modern, minimally invasive method that gains and activates the body’s own exosomes through photothermal stimulation.

The exosomes are what make the difference here: these tiny, highly effective messenger molecules in our body open up fascinating possibilities for selectively supporting the skin’s natural regeneration processes. Through the precise combination of light, temperature, and the body’s own (autologous) material, exosomes are generated that can smooth wrinkles, mitigate scars, visibly improve the complexion, promote cell renewal, and even help with hair loss.

Minimally invasive treatment, well-tolerated, natural, and with impressive results: Feel free to book your appointment for an initial consultation with Dr. Anna Brandenburg online or by phone.

What is the MCT Exosome Therapy all about?

At the heart of this innovative therapy lies the stimulation of the body’s own regeneration processes through a highly precise preparation of autologous substances. In this process, substances such as blood plasma (platelet-rich plasma: PRP), stem cell concentrates (e.g., adipose tissue), and the body’s own cells (fibroblast cultures) are treated with a precisely coordinated combination of light and temperature. We will explain to you in the following sections how your exosome therapy proceeds, what exactly is behind this technology, what role the exosomes play in it, and how the biological processes are supported.

This is how your Exosome Therapy proceeds with Dr. Anna Brandenburg in Hamburg

So that you can get an idea of your treatment even before your first consultation in our practice, we have summarized the procedure step-by-step here:

1. Preparation and Consultation

Detailed informed consent discussion in our practice, individual medical history, and definition of the appropriate treatment plan. Blood sampling to obtain the autologous starting material, in this case, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) containing regenerative growth factors. No extensive preparation is required; treatment is usually performed on an outpatient basis.

2. Preparation of the Material

The extracted autologous material is prepared directly on-site in the specialized MCT Kit®. This is followed by photothermal stimulation in the MCT Unit® to stimulate exosome production. High concentrations of exosomes are released through precise light wavelengths and temperature control. Through targeted photothermal optimization (MCT Boosting), the PRP is processed further. This significantly increases the release of exosomes, creating a highly concentrated, maximally activated MCT Plasma that optimally supports cell regeneration.

3. The Treatment

The prepared exosome preparation is minimally invasively introduced into the previously defined treatment areas using fine cannulas. The injection is low-pain; local anesthesia can be administered upon request. The entire session – including preparation – usually takes about 60 to 90 minutes.

4. After Exosome Therapy

Short observation period in our practice. You are usually immediately socially presentable again. First regenerative effects typically appear after a few weeks.

5. Further Therapy Planning

In many cases, 2–3 sessions at an interval of 3–4 weeks each are recommended for an optimal result. Necessary refresh treatments may be beneficial at intervals (e.g., every 4–6 months) – this depends on the individual patient, their skin type, and lifestyle.

What you should consider before and after Exosome Therapy

As with any medical treatment, there are certain guidelines for Exosome Therapy that our patients should follow before and after the procedure:

Before treatment:

A detailed consultation and clarification will take place in our practice beforehand.

Blood-thinning medications should, if necessary, be temporarily paused after consulting with a physician.

Refrain from consuming nicotine and alcohol 24 hours before the treatment, as these affect blood circulation.

Ensure sufficient fluid intake.

Intense physical strain or sunbathing immediately before the appointment should be avoided if possible.

After the treatment:

In the first hours after the injection, slight redness, swelling, or small bruises may occur in the treated area. This is completely normal and subsides after a few days.

To soothe your skin after the treatment, provide it with sufficient moisture by drinking enough fluids and using moisturizing creams.

Avoid saunas, solariums, and intense sun exposure for several days, as this stress can affect regeneration.

The treated areas should be gently cared for and should not be massaged or pressed strongly.

Sports activities are usually possible again without any problems after just 1–2 days.

Since exclusively endogenous substances are used during exosome therapy, severe side effects or complicated aftercare are practically ruled out. We will, of course, discuss your personal questions and potential contraindications in detail with you before the treatment, as your safety and well-being have top priority in our practice.

How long do the results last?

Depending on the initial findings and the treatment goal, the achieved results and the regenerative effect are visible and lasting for 6 to 12 months. This can be stabilized and further optimized long-term through regular refresh treatments.

The effect of exosome therapy usually sets in gradually, as the body’s own regenerative processes require time to fully unfold. However, initial improvements in the skin or hair can often be observed after the first few weeks.

What side effects can occur?

The MCT Exosome Therapy is generally considered to be extremely well tolerated, as exclusively endogenous material is processed. Nevertheless, temporary, harmless side effects can occur, as with any minimally invasive treatment:

Severe side effects, allergic reactions, or long-term consequences are practically ruled out due to the autologous approach. We clarify all personal factors and potential contraindications with our patients in a detailed consultation.

Your advantages of Exosome Therapy at a glance

Body's own material

Exclusively autologous substances are used – thus, there is no risk of allergic reactions or rejections.

High Exosome Concentration

The photothermal optimization achieves an exceptionally high concentration of growth factors and regenerative messenger molecules.

Minimally invasive and gentle

The treatment is performed with the finest cannulas, is almost painless, and rarely leaves visible marks.

Short downtime

You are usually immediately socially presentable again after the treatment. Broad range of applications: Both aesthetic and medical indications can be effectively supported with MCT Therapy.

Scientifically proven

The therapy is based on current findings in regenerative medicine, cell biology, and photobiomodulation.

Long-term results

By activating the body's own processes, natural repair mechanisms are supported sustainably.

MCT System Explained

The MCT System consists of the MCT Unit® and the MCT Kit®. After extracting the autologous material—in Dr. Brandenburg’s practice, the PRP blood plasma—it is prepared in a patented cartridge made of medical polymer. This so-called MCT Kit® ensures optimal light transmission and homogeneous energy distribution.

Subsequently, the material is subjected to photothermal stimulation in the MCT Unit®. Precisely defined light wavelengths (e.g., 467 nm, 620 nm, or 850 nm) as well as targeted temperature cycles between $4^\circ\text{C}$ and $37^\circ\text{C}$ are used. This combination of light and heat leads to a controlled activation of the cells and a massive release of exosomes and growth factors. The concentration of these regenerative substances is at least 3 times higher than in conventional PRP treatments.

The result: a highly effective, customized preparation that can be used immediately for the treatment.

Photobiomodulation, ATP, and Exosomes: The Key Processes of MCT Exosome Therapy

Behind the high efficacy of MCT Exosome Therapy are several precisely coordinated biological processes that mutually reinforce each other:

1. Photobiomodulation (PBM)

Through the targeted use of light in the visible and infrared spectrum, cellular processes are activated. Photobiomodulation increases cell regeneration, reduces inflammation, and supports wound healing.

2. ATP Mechanism

The light stimulation activates the enzyme Cytochrome c oxidase in the mitochondria. This increases the formation of Adenosine triphosphate (ATP) – the cell's main energy storage molecule. More ATP means: improved cell function, faster regeneration, and higher metabolic activity.

3. Opsins and TRPV Channels

Blue light activates so-called opsins, light-sensitive receptors within the cells. This activation opens so-called TRPV ion channels, causing calcium to flow into the cell. This process influences gene regulation, promotes collagen formation, and improves tissue structure in the long term.

4. Temperature Regulation of Exosome Release

The controlled temperature management of MCT therapy increases the fusion of multivesicular endosomes with the cell membrane. This releases more exosomes, making them available to the tissue for regeneration.

These biological mechanisms complement each other optimally and ensure that Exosome Therapy goes far beyond classic PRP procedures.

What are the application areas for Exosome Therapy?

Thanks to its unique mechanism of action, MCT Exosome Therapy opens up numerous possibilities for application in both aesthetic and medical dermatology.
