It is completely natural that our bodies are subject to a natural structural degradation process. Equally natural is our patients’ desire to address this process using the possibilities of dermatological science. For the gradual loss of facial contours, we therefore wish to offer you a procedure in our private practice in Hamburg with EMFACE® that supports skin and tissue structure through a natural mechanism of action – completely without needles, artificial volume augmentation, or surgical lifting.

Achieving skin longevity with EMFACE® – Your treatment procedure

A complete therapy cycle comprises four individual sessions, which are carried out in our dermatological private practice at systematic intervals of five to ten days each.

Consultation

At the beginning, we evaluate whether the procedure is suitable for your skin appearance, tissue quality, and treatment goal. This also involves realistically assessing whether a standalone treatment is appropriate or if it should be combined with other procedures.

Preparation

Before starting the treatment, we thoroughly cleanse the skin areas on the forehead and cheeks. To guarantee the unrestricted conductivity of the impulses, makeup, residues of skincare products, and bothersome fine hairs must be completely removed.

Applicator placement

The application is performed via external, ergonomically shaped disposable applicators. These self-adhesive pads are precisely placed on the forehead and over the cheekbones, and thus exactly over the anatomical lifting muscles of the face.

Impulse delivery

During the twenty-minute session, the system emits synchronized radiofrequency and electromagnetic energy. You will experience intensive, deep-acting warmth as well as a rhythmic, painless sensation of contraction in the targeted mimetic muscles.

Aftercare

After gently removing the applicators, the session is concluded for you. Since the skin surface remains completely intact and no anesthesia was necessary, no aftercare is required. You can leave the practice immediately without restrictions and continue your daily routine.

Treatment series

We usually recommend four sessions at intervals of 5–10 days. The effects do not appear abruptly but develop over several weeks, as dermal remodeling processes and muscular adaptations require time due to the natural mode of action.

The synchronized radiofrequency

The integrated synchronized radiofrequency heats the dermis in a targeted manner to a therapeutic temperature of approximately 40 to 42.5 degrees Celsius. This controlled heat delivery temporarily destabilizes the existing, aged collagen fibers, initiating a biological repair mechanism. Consequently, fibroblasts activate the body’s own production of new collagen and elastin, thereby increasing the elasticity of the connective tissue. In this context, clinical tissue analyses demonstrate a significant increase in collagen density of up to 26.3%, as well as an increase in elastin content of more than 110% after a two-month regeneration phase.

The HIFES™ muscle stimulation

In parallel with the RF, the patented HIFES™ technology acts on the deeper tissue structures of the face. The system generates a high-energy electromagnetic field which specifically depolarizes the motor nerves of the lifting muscles – namely the frontalis muscle as well as the major and minor zygomaticus muscles. These impulses trigger so-called supramaximal contractions that controllably suppress muscle relaxation. Through this intensive stimulus, histological studies document an increase in muscle mass density of 19.2% on average, as well as an increase in individual lifting muscle fibers of almost 20%.

Scientific assessment of potential side effects

As the application requires absolutely no needles, injections, or surgical incisions, it is considered exceptionally gentle and low-risk. Scientific studies and multicenter clinical trials document the system’s excellent tolerability: Over 91% of treated patients reported no or only minimal discomfort due to the heat and contractions during the session. Serious side effects or long-term treatment-related complications were not observed in the controlled test series.

Medical limits and contraindications

Although this is a purely external, non-invasive procedure, there are clear medical exclusion criteria for which application is contraindicated.

A treatment must not be performed in cases of:

Metallic or electronic implants in the immediate treatment area on the forehead or cheeks (including piercings).
Pacemakers, defibrillators, or implanted neurostimulators in the body.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding (for preventive reasons due to a lack of specific clinical data for these phases).
Acute skin diseases, bacterial infections, or open wounds on the face (these must be completely healed beforehand).
Active neurological diseases in the head and neck area, such as acute facial palsy.

Frequently asked questions about EMFACE® treatment

How does EMFACE® differ from botulinum toxin (BTX) or fillers?

BTX is used to specifically relax overactive mimetic muscles, while fillers can build volume or balance out lost contours. In contrast, EMFACE® works without injections and without volume augmentation: the treatment combines synchronized radiofrequency with HIFES™ muscle stimulation to non-invasively support skin quality, tissue tension, and facial muscle structures.

How can EMFACE® be integrated into a holistic skin longevity concept?

Since the procedure stimulates the deeper tissue layers and the muscles through a natural mechanism of action, it is an ideal anchor point in our skin longevity concept. It combines excellently with therapies that improve superficial skin quality, such as medical peels, PRX-T33, or laser treatments. Is EMFACE® an alternative to a facelift?

The treatment does not replace a surgical facelift. Does the treatment replace radiofrequency microneedling?

No, the procedures rather complement each other. With radiofrequency microneedling, energy is introduced into the skin via fine needles. This is particularly effective for refining the skin surface, reducing pore size, or treating scars. EMFACE® works completely without touch and without needles, penetrates the tissue from the outside, and focuses primarily on muscle building and firming the facial contour.
