Hyperhidrosis

Officially, excessive sweating is defined as the production of more than 100 mg of sweat per armpit within five minutes. However, when the level of distress is high, patients’ self-assessment is often subjective.
There are numerous possible causes: hormones, side effects of medications (e.g. antidepressants, hormone preparations), hypoglycemia in diabetes patients, infections, cancer, overweight, psychological issues, and stress, among others. Whatever the cause may be — together, we will find a solution.

Wet Hands and Feet – Where Do They Come From?

The causes of localized sweating tendencies are still unknown in medical science.
During stress, the body releases adrenaline, which stimulates sweat production.
Sweat secretion is controlled by the messenger substance acetylcholine, a so-called neurotransmitter. The treatment prevents the release of acetylcholine at the nerve junctions, so the sweat glands no longer receive the signal to produce sweat.
Therapy options include aluminum-based deodorants, tablets containing anticholinergics, or tap water iontophoresis with a mild direct current. In severe cases, we can surgically remove the sweat glands or cut the ganglia of the sympathetic nervous system. Home remedies can at least partially reduce excessive sweating — sage tea or lozenges are actually recommended. However, a permanent solution to the sweating problem can only be achieved through surgery, which may be associated with significant side effects. Generally, it can be said that after three treatments, sweating tends to decrease noticeably.
